Backup your files. Understand, what is needed to restore your PC, before it goes bad. Be proactive and protective of your computer.
Some options:
- Get a thumb drive for very important files.
- Just "outright copy" everything, to an External USB drive. Then, totally disconnect it from the computer & power. Store it in a safe place.
- Know where, your original system disks and manuals are.
- Apply updates regularly & catiously check, when applying new ones.
- Replace your Surge Protectors, every two years. They don't last forevever, do have a maximum spike protection rating, and "give no sign" when no longer working. (Yep, the surges get through. Once, it protected you enough times.)
